  • The Death of the University Shell Account

Perhaps it’s just me, but when universities started doing away with shell accounts and forcing students to use Outlook or similarly webbased programs, I was really irritated. Not only was checking my mail slower, as I waited for unnecessary images to load, but I found it was harder to archive important mail to folders that I could immediate transfer to my hard drive.

If all one wants is a shell account, minus the responsibility of maintaining a server, it’s easily available at http://www.efnet.net for only $7.95 a month.
